The decisive match was between Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer and Great Britain’s Daniel Evans, where the fate of the Davis Cup final was decided in four sets. Argentina had won. Argentina defeated Italy and Poland as well this year, having a team formed of valuable players who know how to turn the game around. Leonardo Mayer is especially one of the best players in the team and he can make a difference.
Marin Cilic was the hero as Croatia defeated France in Zadar. In the last tie, which took place 15-18 Sept 2018, Cilic overcame Lucas Pouille in four sets on day one, and Richard Gasquet levelled things up at 1-1, winning against Coric Borna. The doubles match saw another impressive victory of Croatia, letting them seal the victory on day three with Cilic defeating Gasquet.
